The Kane County State’s Attorney has issued a press release regarding an incident that occurred on Woodland Court on August 28th, 2025.

August 29 Officer Involved Shooting - 100 Block of Woodland Court

Carpentersville, Ill. - On Thursday, August 29, 2025, at about 10:45 p.m., Carpentersville Police Officers responded to the 100 Block of Woodland Court in Carpentersville in response to a 911 call. 

Preliminary investigative findings indicate that a male, armed with a firearm, was shot by Law Enforcement Officers who had responded to the scene.   The adult male is currently hospitalized and his condition is not being released.

The incident is being investigated by the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force. After the investigation’s completion, the Task Force will turn all reports over to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office for an independent review of the facts pursuant to statute. No additional information will be released at this time.

 

Carpentersville Police Chief Todd Shaver made the following statement:

“We are deeply concerned about the incident that occurred earlier today involving our officers and fire personnel.  Our thoughts are with everyone affected.  A full and transparent investigation is already underway, and we are committed to sharing updates with the public as soon as we are able.  We ask for the community’s patience as we work to determine the facts.”
