- Medhelp Program
Carpentersville Fire Department offers the Medhelp Program, an innovative community service that utilizes an auto-dialer device to quickly request help from Quad Com dispatching system in case of an emergency. The program is self-supportive through user fees and donations, with an initial one-time charge of $125 covering the medical alarm, installation, and record keeping. This ensures the upkeep of the medical units, and donations are accepted for battery replacement. By participating in the Medhelp Program, residents can have peace of mind knowing that they have access to a reliable and affordable emergency response system.
The emergency call system units used in the Medhelp Program are made available through multiple sources which make the number of units available at any given time contingent on the amount of monies are available for this program. The Medhelp Program will do all it can to make the needed units available. Due to the fact that there could be a waiting period between the time you are notified that you have qualified to participate in the Medhelp Program and the time the emergency call system unit and pager are installed in your home, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED A RECIPIENT OF MEDHELP SERVICES FOR ANY REASON UNTIL THE TIME THE UNIT IS INSTALLED IN YOUR HOME AND HAS BEEN CONNECTED TO THE QUADCOM COMPUTER AT THE DISPATCH CENTER, AND HAS BEEN TESTED BY MEDHELP PERSONNEL. THEN AND ONLY THEN ARE YOU CONSIDERED TO BE A RECIPIENT OF MEDHELP SERVICES.
Due to the rising cost medical alarms, maintenance issues and manpower, there is a cost to this service. The initial one-time charge for the service is $125.00. This covers the medical alarm, installation, and record keeping. This will cover the expense of upkeep of the medical units, and donations are accepted for battery replacement although not mandatory. With the exception of the initial charge, no employee of the Village of Carpentersville will be asking for additional money.
